A report about the threat prediction released by Intel security
has identified 14 threat trends for the year 2017, other things include
critical developments made for the safety of cloud technology and the internet
of things (IoT), and also the six challenges to be solved that are faced by the
cyber safety industry.
The vice president of Intel Security’s McAfee
Labs Vincent Weafer says that “we need to neutralize our rival’s greatest
advantages to change the balance between the defenders and the attackers.” A
new defensive technique’s stays effective until the hackers develop measures to
counter and evade it.
To outsmart the rivals through we need to go extra mile further than the understanding of just the threat landscape through managed security services UK
to change the attacker-defender mechanism in six areas. These are
- Attacks made more expensive
- Information asymmetry
- Identification of exploited legitimacy
- Improved visibility
- Detecting and protection in agentless environment
- Improved protection for decentralized
Below
are the 14 threat trends for the year 2017 which were mentioned above
- In the second half of 2017 we will see a decrease in the
effectiveness and volume of ransomware attacks.
- Exploiting
factors for the windows will see a decline on the other hand factors that
targeted the virtualization software and infrastructure software will continue
to rise.
- Sophisticated
hackers will look to target hardware and firmware more than before.
- Hackers
will attempt dronejackings for a number of hacktivist purposes using the
software that’s running on the laptops.
- Credential
theft will be combined with mobile device locks by mobile attacks which will
allow the cyber criminals to gain access to bank accounts and credit card
information etc.
- IoT
malware may result in the opening of backdoors to the connected home which may
not be detected for years or until a big loss has happened
- Proliferation
will be accelerated by machine learning which will result in the increased
sophistication of social engineering attacks.
- We
will see intensity and increase in the ad wars and hackers will copy the new
techniques used by the advertisers to up lift their malware delivering
capabilities.
- Hackers
will play a vital role in exploiting the privacy issues.
- paid campaigns will continue to catch the attention of customers
and will hook them as this trend is growing with the passage of time
- There
will be increased cooperation seen between the law enforcement and industry
which will see clear dents being put in the network of cyber criminals.
- Cyber
espionage will see growth in the private sector as well as the cyber underworld
as it is done amongst the nations.
- Collaboration
between the cyber and physical safety industry stakeholders will take place to
strengthen measures against digital threats.
- Threat intelligence sharing will see great surge
in the year 2017
Apart from the trend of above mentioned threats, another trend that
is here to stay for a long time is the trend of managed
security services UK.
This trend helps to maintain the health of your
network system and also allows being free from a lot stresses like hiring
permanent professionals, training them, hiring them on heavy payrolls, etc.
